GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Wednesday, 14 May.
Weather warnings include heatwave conditions in Richtersveld, Northern Cape and fire risks in parts of the Northern and Western Cape.
Fine, cool conditions are expected elsewhere.

Weather warnings, Wednesday, 14 May
Fire danger warnings
The weather service has warned of extremely high fire danger conditions expected over extreme northwestern parts of the Northern Cape (along and adjacent to the coastal areas) as well as over Beaufort West, Laingsburg and Kannaland municipalities today.

Saws also warned that a heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Richtersveld Municipality of the Northern Cape until Friday.

Here’s what to expect in your province on Wednesday, 14 May:
Western Cape:
Western Cape residents can expect morning fog patches along the south coast and adjacent interior where it will be cool; otherwise, it will be fine and warm but hot along the west coast. The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”. Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.
Eastern Cape (western half):
It will be fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be light north-westerly in the morning, otherwise light to moderate south-westerly.
Eastern Cape (eastern half):
The day will be fine and warm but cool in places in the north. The wind along the coast will be light north-westerly in the morning, otherwise light easterly.
Gauteng:
Residents of Gauteng can expect morning fog patches in the north; otherwise, it will be fine and cool. The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”. Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.
Mpumalanga:
Mpumalanga residents can expect morning fog patches along the escarpment; otherwise, conditions will be fine and cool, but partly cloudy in the east. It will be warm in the Lowveld.
Limpopo:
The day will be cloudy along the escarpment at first with morning fog patches; otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool but warm in places in the east.
North West:
Fine and cool weather awaits North West residents.
Free State:
Residents of the Free State will experience fine and cool weather.
Northern Cape:
The day will be fine and cool to warm but hot to very hot along the north coast.
KwaZulu-Natal:
Residents of KwaZulu-Natal can look forward to fine and cool conditions but warm in the east. The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”.
Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.
