According to Shoprite, the victims of these crimes are often women and children in the poorer communities where socio-economic issues lead to abuse.
The self defence workshops will provide the women in these communities with the tools to defend themselves, encourage them to speak out about their abuse and give them the confidence they so desperately need.
The self-defence workshops will be presented by Sanette Smit who holds an 8th Dan black belt in karate and is the highest graded woman in karate in Africa and one of the highest graded women in the world. She has been involved in the field of karate and self-defence for over 30 years.
The self defence workshops in the Klein-Karoo area will be held in the following towns on the following dates:
- Oudtshoorn - 26 July
- Beaufort West - 20 September
