OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Thanks to the tireless efforts of mostly retired ladies of Oudtshoorn 120 children received scarves for the coming winter. The children are all learners at Zeekoegat Primary and play school.
Louisa Lewie personally knitted 60 of the 120 scarves as her contribution to the project which was spearheaded by Ida Lipschitz, co-owner of Safari Ostrich Farm.
The ladies who spent the whole summer feverishly knitting for less fortunate children have been knitting for years to supply various garments to needy children and send consignments of jerseys, beanies, blankets and dolls all over South Africa. We are very grateful that they chose to support Zeekoegat with much needed scarves.
As Zeekoegat Trust we are grateful to those individuals and companies that have supported us in the past and still continue to do so.
The Trust is in its 8th year of existence and we strive through private funding to uplift the Welgeluk Community through improving education for their children at Zeekoegat Primary and Play-school.
- Extra remedial teacher for which we require funding to the value of R48 000 per year.
- Improvement and expanding of our current vegetable garden.
- Funds to fence the vegetable garden
- Kitchen equipment
- Eye tests for children and supply of reading glasses
- Feeding scheme to provide balanced meals
- Music programme and facilities
- Computer classes (We have the computers just need to finish set-up)
- Repair and maintenance to buildings.
