OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Cango Wildlife is appealing to residents in the surrounding area to keep an eye out for Patricia, a young porcupine who escaped from her habitat overnight.
According to Cango Wildlife, Patricia was moved to a new habitat on Wednesday 2 September. Despite the usual checks, the staff discovered this morning, Thursday 3 September, that she had managed to find her way out of the enclosure overnight.
The Cango Wildlife team is actively searching the facility and surrounding area.
Patricia was rescued as a baby and has spent her entire life in human care. She is comfortable around people and dependent on her caregivers for her daily care, making her safe return a priority for the wildlife centre.
Residents living or working near Cango Wildlife are urged to remain vigilant and report any possible sightings.
Anyone who spots a porcupine or believes they may have seen Patricia is asked not to approach, chase or attempt to catch her. Instead, they should keep a safe distance, note the exact location, and contact Cango Wildlife immediately.
