OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Fourteen-year-old Lethabo Sekgobela, a Grade 8 learner at Oudtshoorn High School, is preparing to represent South Africa in Colombia as the reigning Miss Pre Teen SA International 2026.
She will represent South Africa at the international Mini Model World Cup Event from 9 to 15 June.
As part of her journey, Sekgobela is committed to advocating for issues that affect young girls, with a particular focus on period poverty.
"I am working hard to raise awareness about the lack of sanitary products for girls. No girl should have to miss school because of her menstrual cycle or because she does not have access to the necessary sanitary products," she said.
Sekgobela believes that every girl deserves the opportunity to thrive and wants to inspire young people to recognise their worth and potential.
"I want all girls to know that they are capable and deserving. They embody pride, resilience, hope and unity. When we empower the youth through health, sport and education, we are empowering the future of South Africa," she added.
More than just a model, Sekgobela sees herself as a voice for girls who have not yet found theirs.
"As Miss Pre Teen SA International, I want to share a message of hope, strength and the beauty of South Africa with the world," she said.
