OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Diocesan Jubilee of Priests and the Diocesan Patronal Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was celebrated on 28 June at St Saviour Cathedral after the quarterly Diocesan Pastoral Council meeting. The Diocesan Pastoral Council is a consultative body, representative of the members of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Oudtshoorn.

The council, recommended in the sacred canons and called together in Christ by the Bishop, seeks to assist the Bishop in providing vision and direction for nurturing the faith, the pastoral life and the activities of the people of God through the observance of its very statutes.

Concluding the Diocesan Jubilee Year of Priests this morning at Mary, Queen of the Apostles in Rosemoor, Deacon-elect Refiloe Letswesa was ordained transitional deacon.

"It is the churches heartfelt prayer that Deacon Refiloe will enjoy the special protection of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in his ministry, now and always", Vernon Macaskill Meyer concluded.
