CALITZDORP NEWS - On Wednesday morning, 9 May, 60 Qhubeka bicycles were distributed to learners at Calitzdorp High School. The bicycle distribution was a combined effort between Jan Braai, Investec Asset Management and Qhubeka Charity.
The high school learners were among the first in South Africa to receive the brand new South African-built Qhubeka Bicycle.
"I have been coming to Calitzdorp for a number of years, and now I am able to take people through the town on the Tour de Braai," says Jan Braai and hand over the bicycles. I think these bikes will make a huge difference in the lives of the school children, and as we return each time to Calitzdorp we hope to bring more bikes and happiness to the kids."
"By hosting fund-raising events in Johannesburg and Cape Town we raised approximately R200 000, enough to provide Qhubeka Bicycles for 60 learners,” said Nicolaas Alberts, client director, Investec Asset Management.
The next Tour de Braai takes place from 4 to 10 November.
