GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - As part of the Matriekbaai activities in Mossel Bay, trees will be planted at Sonskynvallei on Thursday, 8 December.
Matriekbaai is a type of matric "rave" taking place in Mossel Bay until 10 December, centred mainly at Dias Beach, comprising entertainment by singers and various functions and afterparties.
It is open to 18 to 22 year olds.
The tree planting takes place at 12:00 at Sonskynvallei, on the R328 road on the way to Oudtshoorn. A group of matrics will be present for the planting.
Matriekbaai organisers are collaborating with the municipality in the tree planting. Mossel Bay Municipality has a tree planting campaign running currently.
Ten trees will be planted at Sonskynvallei and the rest of a total of 2 000 trees contributed by the Matriekbaai organisers, will be planted elsewhere in the greater Mossel Bay area as a "legacy of the Matriekbaai", Mossel Bay Municipality community services director Elize Nel says.
