SPORT NEWS - South Western Districts has appointed Merlin Masimela as the new KFC Mini Cricket co-ordinator at the company.
Masimela, who hails from Oudtshoorn, matriculated at Langenhoven Gymnasium in Oudtshoorn and obtained a Sports Management Diploma via Boston City Campus.
He brings a wide variety of skills and expertise to the company.
As a cricketer, he represented SWD Cricket at youth age group levels and the Union in 7 First Class- and 16 List A matches between 2007 and 2010. The 36-year-old Masimela has extensive experience in coaching various provincial representative age group teams.
"We are delighted to have Masimela in our staff component. He will be a big asset to our ambitious organisation and will bring new blood to our biggest grassroots cricket development program," said Gary Moos, the Cricket Services Manager of SWD Cricket. He took office on 1 May.
