OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The pandemic and the negative effect it has on people's emotional wellbeing has motivated Yvonne Liza to write a book to inspire people.
"I have always cared deeply for people. It breaks my heart to see how this pandemic has caused people to lose hope and even commit suicide. With my book, I want to contribute something small to show people that there is always hope," she said with the launch of A daily dose of inspiration, on Saturday 19 June.
Liza started writing the book in October 2020 and completed the 28 inspirational pieces in December. The book is presented as a daily inspirational book with pages on which readers can also make their own notes. The book addresses 28 issues of which joy, rejection, happiness, patience and restoration are examples. Liza is deeply religious and the book reflects this in each chapter.
Writing the book was only part of the process, says Liza.
"The next challenge was to find a way to publish it because the normal publishers will probably not look at it. Luckily I found a publisher in Oudtshoorn who assisted me with the whole process and in the end, I have a book in my hand that has gone through the whole process of editing and proofreading."
Bearing Covid-19 restrictions in mind, she invited only about 30 guests to the book launch that was held behind Jemima's Restaurant in the Lighthouse Guesthouse.
Although Liza received the copies of her book almost a month ago, she chose not to reveal or sell any copies of A daily dose of inspiration before the launch on Saturday. She dedicated the book to her mother, Nyendyiwe Liza, "to honour her for her strong personality, wisdom and guidance".
One of the first guests to arrive at the book launch was Nyendyiwe Liza, the author's mother to whom the book is dedicated.
Liza grew up and lives in Bongolethu and amidst her daily duties as an employee at the Infantry School, she has also enrolled for further studies and plans to write another book. She says the book is in great part also a reflection of her own life and issues with which she has had to deal.
