GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - A recce flight was conducted by SANParks at 11:30 today. 

Soetkraal has two hotspots: One smoking within indigenous vegetation in a valley with burned areas right around. The other is smoking on the western flank very slowly down into a kloof with a westerly wind. 

Olifantsvlakte has an active fireline on the north west of the ridge. Also burning downhill into a kloof with a westerly wind against it. South and East is relatively safe as area has already burned. 

Woodlands has no signs of active fires. 

Wolf Sanctuary has no signs of active fires. 

Stormsriver Gorge - No signs of active fires.

Otter Trail - Still signs of smoke on day 2.  

For now, SANParks will only monitor and not deploy resources to Olifantsvlakte or Soetkraal. 

If the weather changes and conditions become a threat to life or property, we will use helicopters to bomb.
