GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS AND VIDEO - The children from the village of Vanwyksdorp in the Klein Karoo were treated to an early Christmas on Wednesday 20 December when Santa Claus paid a visit to the tiny village - a hidden gem waiting to be explored!
Santa Claus’s visit was sponsored by Stuff, a unique local shop cum bistro, that ensured that every child received a wonderful, practical gift and a yummy ice cream all the way from the north pole.
Stuff owner, Wendi Taute Fitzhenry Skowronek, started the Stuff Charity in 2022 to make high days and holidays special for local kids.
This year Pieter and Hanna Coetzee of Mont Rouge Olive Estate and Louise du Toit of Rickys Drift were invited to join in the fun turning Christmas 2023 into an extra memorable event.
Santa Claus Alfonso and Edith the reindeer, both employed at Stuff, took great pleasure in handing out gifts.
True to its name, Stuff sells gorgeous stuff, including upmarket deli produce, boutique clothing and locally created artwork, while the bistro section is known for its delectable eats and treats.
Pizza is good Stuff!
Stuff also started a pet feeding scheme this year, so not a single pet will go hungry this festive season.
The picturesque Vanwyksdorp offers the perfect escape - especially if you want to escape the influx of visitors to coastal areas. Located near Ladismith, the village is only accessible via gravel roads, making it an ideal spot for adventure seekers and solace hunters!
This village is home to just 800 people and living proof that working together and sharing resources make for a festive, cheery season, happy residents and charmed visitors!
