York Auto: 15 years of success

GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - York Auto is celebrating 15 years of excellence in vehicle sales and financing.

On 1 March 2007, owner Danie von Mollendorff Snr, received the keys to their first premises and opened the doors.

"We literally started the business with nothing. When we stepped inside the building, we were welcomed by a lot of depreciated vehicles and had to start from scratch," explains his wife and administrator, Wanda.

"We changed the name to York Auto and from there on were supported by friends and clients who believed in us. They really helped us grow over the years." York Auto specialises in the 4x4 market with luxury SUVs, bakkies and Jeeps.

Father-son combo

The driving force of York Auto is the solid father-son combination. Father (63) and son (41), both named Danie, not only share a passion for vehicles, but love to fish in their free time.

Danie Snr has more than 40 years of experience in the automotive industry.

He is an ex-Bolander, from Worcester, and started out in his 20s selling and cleaning motorcycle parts. "He is an incredible example of someone who comes from a humble background, managed to reach success without taking shortcuts, and stay humble. That is what I admire most of him," says Wanda.

York Auto has been awarded the Absa Golden Partner Non Franchise Dealer Award three times in a row. Absa, Wesbank and Standard Bank supported York Auto over the past 15 years. Marquis Finance stepped into the picture in 2019.

"We really want to thank them all for their support. We could not have done this without them," says Wanda.

"The list of other supporters of York Auto is too long to mention, so this is a tribute and a huge 'THANK YOU' to all of you who have walked through our doors and touched our lives. We really could not have done this without you! Most importantly: All the glory goes to God. He opens our doors every morning and guides us in all the decisions we make. Our wish is that we may be blessed to be of service for a few more years. Proudly South African!"
