BUSINESS NEWS - This year’s Rugby Championship has been one for the record books with the competition coming down to the wire. The point’s difference on the log in this year’s tournament has been the closest it has ever been with only one point separating the Springboks and New Zealand. Argentina is unfortunately out of the running to win after suffering a defeat against the Boks this past weekend.
Sportingbet.co.za offers great odds on this weekend’s Rugby Championship matches as well as the upcoming matches of the Springboks European tour.
The final round between the Wallabies and the All Blacks
Last weekend saw Australia travel to New Zealand for their first match of the tournament at Eden Park. The Wallabies set out to do what the Springboks couldn’t and win a match at Eden Park.
They came incredibly close with only nine points separating the two teams after the final whistle. The score after the final whistle was 33-24 for the All Blacks. Both teams have travelled to Australia to play their last match of the tournament which will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Australia can still theoretically win the Championship. The need overcome New Zealand with a bonus point this Saturday and hope that Argentina can manage to keep the Springboks from winning the match. New Zealand is trailing South Africa with one point. They will also be hoping that Argentina can keep the Bokke from scoring a bonus point which will put the trophy out of their reach even if they manage to win with a bonus point. The match between NZ vs Aus kicks off at 11:45 on Saturday.
The final match between Los Pumas and the Springboks
Mzansi is still a buzz with the results of the first match against Argentina this past Saturday. The match took place at Kings Park in Durban and finished with the biggest points difference in the Championship thus far.
The Boks ran away with the match in the second half with the score at the end of the match 67-30 for the SA. The few words need to be said about man of the match Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. He scored 37 points in the game breaking Percy Montgomery’s previous record of 35 points in a test match.
Both teams are already in England for the final match which will be played at Twickenham in London on Saturday.
This will be the first time that the Springboks lifts the Rugby Championship trophy back to back if they manage to beat Argentina on Saturday.
Rassie has already announced the team which is very similar to the team that played on Saturday. Italian referee Andrea Piardi will be presiding over the final match which kicks off at 15:00.
The road is long for the Springboks who will be playing four matches on their European tour later this year.
Here’s to the Springboks lifting the trophy for a second time in row on Saturday.
