The big-serving South Africa, who lost to former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray of Great Britain for the ATP 500 tournament trophy in London, rose three places in the global list.
He continued to carry the SA flag, as the only player among the top 300 in the men’s singles rankings, after reaching his 10th ATP final with victories over Australian Lleyton Hewitt in the first round, French Open champion Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland in the second round and French No 7 seed Gilles Simon in the semifinals.
He became the first SA player to reach the singles final at Queen’s Club since Wayne Ferreira in 1993.
