Some clouds were scattered around and a fresh little wind had started to pick up by the time the Juniors and Fun riders started their race and the open road back to the start/finish line became a serious battle against the head wind especially for the Nippers and Sprogs.
With most of the single track in the small valley, about 60% of the race could be watched from close to the Feeding Zone which was very nice especially when the seniors started racing.
The seniors (serious) riders started off at a good pace and by the time they passed behind the finish area on their first lap, Devin Kruger (Junior Men) was leading the pack with Jason Meaton (u.23) close behind and young Aiden van Niekerk (Youth Men) not far behind.
They all very soon settled into a fast rhythm with Jason Meaton setting the fastest lap of just over 10 minutes and also a winning time of 1:05:56 over six laps.
Neill Ungerer won the Elite Men in a time of 1:13:18 after a warm-up ride from Knysna the previous day via the Seven Passes road.
A couple of riders got the crew of ER24 to open the emergency bag after they tangled with some bushes, but no serious falls occurred.
