BOXING NEWS - In a closely fought contest, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai retained the WBC junior-bantamweight belt with a majority 12 rounds points decision over Juan Francisco Estrada at the Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
The scores were 117-111, 115-113 and 114-114.
Estrada, 36-3; 25, did well through the first five rounds but the harder punching Rungvisai, 44-4-1; 39, fought his way back in the middle rounds and controlled the fight through to the end.
NIETES WINS ON STOPPAGE
Donnie Nietes, 41-1-4; 23, won a seventh round stoppage against Carlos Reveco, 39-4; 19, to retain the IBF flyweight belt for the first time.
After a slow start, Nietes picked up the action in the sixth round and stunned Reveco with a right hand just before the bell.
The badly hurt Reveco was examined by the doctor at the interval and allowed to come out for the seventh round.
However, after a series of lefts and rights and a final uppercut he was knocked down.
Reveco managed to beat the count but was in no condition to continue as his corner waved the fight off at 53 seconds into the round.
