SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - The Oakhurst Insurance Eden Xperience takes place on September 4 and 5 at Glenwood House in George. Everyone is invited to participate in this fun-filled outdoor sports and recreation festival.
Trail runners and mountain bike enthusiasts will have plenty to choose from on Saturday, the September 5, at the annual event.
The Battle of the Bikes MTB Challenge offers riders a choice of a 10km, 25km, 45km and 65km distances on a new exciting course. The different routes, traveling through untouched farmland, have been planned to challenge experienced riders, as well as provide fun routes for the novice riders. Chain Gang Events have partnered with Glenwood House this year to create an event that is destined to become a premier cycling event in the Garden Route.
The Battle of the Bikes is sanctioned by Cycling South Africa (CSA), and is also the Eden (SWD) Marathon Championship event. All riders who want to compete for Eden colours have to belong to an affiliated club and must be a CSA member. For more information about qualifying for Eden colours, contact Fred Lingenfleder at email@example.com.
The Eden Adventures Trail Run, a new addition to the Eden X programme this year, will take runners on a scenic route through private property with two distances on offer: 21km and 10km. The Eden Xperience Challenge medal will be awarded to participants who complete the 45km MTB and a trail run event. Enter online at www.edenxperience.co.za or www.chaingangevents.co.za. The George Herald Run for the Stars 10km night run kicks off the festival on Friday, September 4. The 10km route starts and finishes at Glenwood House School and travels through the neighbourhoods of Loerie Park and Eden.

Socialise around blazing fire baskets after the run and enjoy the many offerings from the various food stalls. Visit www.edenxperience.co.za for more information and to enter online.
There is plenty on offer for the whole family with food and drink stalls as well as live entertainment by local artists. Children can bounce and play on giant inflatables in the fun park with a safe zone for the smaller guests.
As Glenwood House believes in giving back to the community, a portion of the proceeds is donated to various charities in the community.
