GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - A group of men who were parabats in 1975 in Angola will be meeting in May in the Mossel Bay area and holding a golf day.
A number of reunion activities are planned.
The organiser of the reunion, Tom Viljoen, lives in Reebok. He said: "We are a group of old parabat military war veterans who have had close camaraderie since 1975, during the Angola war - operation Savannah - with Colonel Jan Breytenbach, just prior to the 32 Battalion being established.
"Our choice of venue this year is Mossel Bay, because I am living here in Reebok myself and believe this is the best place to live in South Africa, weather wise."
Viljoen said: "Our reunion will be over a three-day period, 5 to 8 May, to give the guys time to catch up on old times. They will be coming from as far as the USA, Namibia and all over South Africa.
"We will be having a braai on 5 May at 17:00 with other parabats, recces and veterans from the area and also a social golf day at Dolphins Creek Club in Great Brak on 6 May.
"Because not all of us are golf players we would like keen golfers to join us for the day, but they need to phone me to book a space. Businesses are welcome to contact me regarding sponsorship of prizes for the players."
