CRICKET NEWS - The SWD women's cricket team ended their season on a high after comprehensive victories against Boland in both the limited-over and T20 encounters that were played at the Recreation Ground on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
In the 50-over match, Boland were restricted to 107 thanks to disciplined bowling by Haroline Rhodes (3/17), Miceala Andrews (2/15), Chani Damons (2/18) and Marnezelle Rabie (2/34).
The home team only needed 25 overs to knock off the required target (108/4) for a 6-wicket victory.
Miceala Andrews (35), Haroline Rhodes (25*) and Bianca Figeland (24*) all made useful contributions with the bat.
An excellent bowling display by Jané Winster (5/10 in 4 overs) was the highlight in their 56-runs victory in the Twenty20 clash. SWD who posted 99 (all out) dismissed the visitors for only 43.
Andrews (2/5) and Marion Williams (2/14) provided valuable support.
This was the first time that SWD managed to beat Boland in the Cricket SA Provincial women's competition since SWD's introduction into the competition in the 2005/06 season.
