GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Union Stars (114/8) cemented its position at the top of the table in the SWD Premier league competition after a hard-fought two-wicket victory against Pirates (113 all out) of Knysna, over the weekend.
The NMU Madibaz (195 all out) recorded a 38 runs victory against Pacaltsdorp (157 all out). Odin le Roux (62* with the bat) and Todd Walker (5/50 with the ball) were the heroes for NMU.
Harlequins (128 all out) was too strong for Pioneers (122 all out) and kept their hopes alive for a place in the playoffs.
Ramblers (179 all out) who defeated Western Hope (153 all out) by 26 runs, will be pleased with an important victory to move away from potential relegation.
According to Albertus Kennedy SWD cricket CEO, the match of the weekend was George against Mossel Bay.
"George (173/3) made an excellent run chase to defeat Mossel Bay (171 all out) by seven wickets, as they reached the target in the 47th over.
"Johandré Barnard (91*) and Franco Geldenhuys (59*) were the batting heroes for George with an unbeaten partnership of 115 runs for the fourth wicket."
