OUDTSHOORN CRICKET NEWS -A new SWD Premier league champion will be crowned on Saturday when Union Stars, the most successful team of recent years, and George will log horns at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
Union Stars, who topped the log after the preliminary round, have several provincial players in their line-up, and they will be full of confidence after they have reached sixteen of the last eighteen finals (since 2002/03) of which they won twelve times.
They have experienced match-winners in their line-up like Pieter Stuurman, Leroi Bredenkamp, Yamkela Oliphant, Tyrece Karelse and Renaldo Meyer.
The key players for George, who play in their third consecutive final, will be Neil Hornbuckle, Levin Muller, Richardt Frenz, Franco Geldenhuys and Bailey Aarons.
The last time that George won the final was in 2007/08. In 2008/09 they shared the trophy with Pacaltsdorp United.
The match will start at 10:00.
