GARDEN ROUTE CRICKET NEWS - The defending champions, Union Stars (218/4), started their campaign in the SWD Premier Cricket League on a high with a 6-wicket bonus point victory against Ramblers (215 all out).
Askin Louw (94) produced an impressive batting performance for Ramblers but Pieter Stuurman (75*) and Joviano Tock (39*) took the home team over the line when they reached the target (218/4) after 39 overs.
Mossel Bay (208 all out) defeated Western Hope (185 all out) by 23 runs.
On Sunday Ramblers (115/5) bounced back to defeat Harlequins Forces (112/9) by 5 wickets, thanks to an undefeated half century by Bradley Carolus (62*).
Pioneers were victorious in Pool D of the Promotion League and will advance to the quarter finals that will be contested this weekend.
