OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Bridgton Hub won the SWD edition of the Cricket South Africa Schools T20 title on Tuesday 5 November. The Bridgton Hub defeated the D’Almeida Hub from Mossel Bay by 60 runs in the final at the Recreation Ground.
Bridgton, who batted first posted a competitive 156/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Wilrino Meyer (21) and Keano Coerecius (58 from 44 balls; 1x6, 5x4) added 59 runs for the second wicket while the partnership for the third wicket was 86 runs between Coerecius and Josh Karelse (51 from 39 balls; 1x6, 5x4).
In their pursuit, the D’Almeida Hub was restricted to 96 all out. For Bridgton Sherwin Plaatjies (2/3), Lastio Williams (3/4), and Jerwill van Wyngaardt (4/24) impressed with the ball. Joshua Rossouw produced an all-round performance for D’Almeide as he picked up 4/22 with the ball and scored 24 (from 26 balls; 1x6, 1x4) with the bat.
Keano Coerecius, the captain of the Bridgton Hub receives the trophy as tournament winners from Johan Bruiners (Eden Schools Cricket Executive Committee member).
