Among the group are medal hopefuls, Chad Le Clos and Cameron van der Burgh, who will lead the charge for South Africa in the pool, while women’s canoeist Bridgitte Hartley, who won bronze at the 2012 London games is also in the list.
Tour de France cyclists Daryl Impey and Louis Meintjies form part of the Men’s Road Race team, while Ryan Patterson will take part in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics.
A list of six athletes so far will take part in the Marathon events, with SASCOC confirming that more athletes who achieve better qualifying times between now and 11 July will be considered.
