GEORGE NEWS - Pre-entries for the iconic Southern Cross Trail Run (SOX) close today, Friday 25 July, and no late entries will be accepted.
This beloved three-day trail running event will once again take over the trails of the Garden Route from 8 to 10 August, with runners arriving on Thursday 7 August.
Described as the most diverse three-day trail run in South Africa, SOX gives athletes VIP access to some of the most pristine, untouched areas of the Garden Route. The event offers a complete experience from rugged Outeniqua mountain paths to lush indigenous forests and breathtaking coastal trails.
Three days, three stages
Runners can choose between the SOX Full (longer distances) and SOX Sport (shorter distances) options, or participate in the one-day standalone SOX Single Day Trail Run on Sunday 10 August.
SOX Full:
Day 1 (Mountain Stage) – 25km of single-track in the Outeniqua Mountains
Day 2 (Forest Stage) – 25km of lush SANParks forest trail in Rheenendal
Day 3 (Coastal Stage) – 16km of SANParks coastal trail in Wilderness
SOX Sport:
Day 1 – 13km Mountain stage
Day 2 – 10km Forest stage
Day 3 – 12km Coastal stage
SOX 1-day Trail Run (10 August)
This exciting standalone race forms part of Day 3 of the SOX Trail Run and is ideal for those wanting a shorter yet unforgettable trail experience.
Date: Sunday 10 August 2025
Start Time: 09:00
Start Venue: Kleinkrantz Beach
Finish Line: Fairy Knowe Hotel, via a floating bridge over the Touw River!
Distances: 12km or 16km
Registration will take place on Thursday 7 August, from 16:00 to 19:00 at the Fairy Knowe Hotel, and again on Sunday 10 August from 07:00, also at the Fairy Knowe Hotel.
All entrants will receive a finisher’s medal and an ice-cold finisher’s beer, followed by a prize-giving lunch.
Participants are advised to use the event shuttle from Fairy Knowe Hotel to the start at Kleinkrantz Beach, as the route is point-to-point and parking at the start is not recommended.
