Each club will utilize the R3 000 towards assisting their development athletes with their affiliation and membership fees, clothing and equipment. WC DCAS has also indicated that it will assist these club with a transport subsidy until the end of this financial year.
These five clubs have now come to the end of their three year programme with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, during which DCAS has given them financial support, equipment, clothing, training opportunities and also a sound foundation to carry on with their own development programmes.
Five new clubs have been identified for the next three year cycle. They are: Beaufort West Runners, Hartenbos Drawwers, Oudtshoorn Athletics Club, Outeniqua Harriers and Sedgefield Striders.
