KAROO NEWS - Tourists who would like to explore with a bit of a drive can do the Swartberg Circle Route. 

The circular self-drive route takes you from Calitzdorp to Oudtshoorn, over the Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert and through Meiringspoort to De Rust. 

Choose any of these four towns as your starting point and travel in either direction. Cruise along beautiful backroads like Oudemuragie, Vergelegen and Groenfontein that weave through the quiet countryside, while enjoying a taste of adventure, a touch of culture and a range of culinary delights along the way. 

The route is a treasure trove of sights and sounds. Explore the largest show cave system in Africa, cuddle an ostrich chick and dive with crocs. 

Taste some of the Klein Karoo’s finest wines, view magnificent ostrich palaces dating back to the 1900s or simply enjoy the staggering scenery along the way.
