Two female Maties students found themselves in a storm of outrage after being photographed in costumes in which their bodies were smeared in what appears to be black paint.
One of the students at the centre of the controversy has since apologised, claiming they were dressed-up as purple aliens for a residence party and never meant to ‘demean blackness’.
