NATIONAL NEWS - Gauteng police are still searching for a man who shot and killed one person and wounded seven others during a concert at the Hillbrow Theatre in Johannesburg.
It's understood that the gunman, who was in the audience, grabbed a microphone and threatened to stop the event unless his stolen cellphone was brought back.
Authorities say he pulled out a gun and started shooting randomly at the audience. He then fled on foot.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says an investigation is underway.
“Police are investigating a case of murder after a man shot eight people. One person was killed. We have launched a manhunt for him.”
Traumatic experience
The Hillbrow Theatre says it's shocked after a brazen gun attack at the facility.
The theatre's director Gerard Bester says the attack left many people traumatised.
