Fishing vessel sinks, 10 dead

NATIONAL NEWS - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says at least 10 people have died while eight more were rescued after a fishing vessel sank near Kleinmond.

A massive search operation has now been launched after the fishing boat ran into trouble last night.

The NSRI's Craig Lambinon said, “A fishing vessel reported to be taking water last night with 21 crew members on board abandoned ship. During a rescue operation, nine bodies were recovered and three remain missing. During the night one of the survivors succumbed to his injuries and died.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remains unclear.
