"They had walked across to Pelican Island during low tide to fish before being caught there by the Spring high tide and although in no imminent danger they requested the NSRI’s assistance to get back to mainland rather than wait until much later before they would be able to walk back to mainland at the next low tide and NSRI obliged without any hesitation to assist the men.
"NSRI Durban launched the sea rescue craft MEGAN II and on arrival on the scene all 6 fishermen, aged between 7 and 59, all locals, were taken aboard MEGAN II and transported to mainland where once delivered no further assistance was required.
