'Birthday rapist' denied bail in Uitenhage

NATIONAL NEWS - A man dubbed the birthday rapist has been denied bail in the Uitenhage Magistrates' Court. He reportedly committed some of the alleged crimes on his birthday.

Police spokesperson, Lt. Gerda Swart, said the case against the 26-year-old, of Uitenhage, was postponed on Monday.

She said the suspect was arrested on the 4th of May in connection with a string of rape cases dating to back to 2007 when he was a teenager.

Swart said he faced a total of 15 cases of rape.
