Noakes has been called before the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) after a complaint was lodged by the former president of the association for dietetics in the country, which centres on a tweet from Noakes to a mother who asked what foods she should feed her baby.
Chairperson Joan Adams extended the hearing last year due to various delays.
Noakes came under fire after he advised the mother on Twitter to wean her baby on a low carb/high fat diet.
The hearing was supposed to last a week in 2015 but delays led to it being extended until today.
According to reports the HPCSA has appointed a new lawyer to represent them in the matter and an unnamed surprise expert witness will testify.
