NATIONAL NEWS - AfriForum will criminally charge Dr Beth Engelbrecht, Head of the Western Cape Department of Health, on 20 November as part of the organisation’s national campaign against the proposed National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill. This campaign aims to highlight the misuse of taxpayer money as a national crisis.
"Afriforum will visit all nine provinces in one week during which criminal charges will be laid against the heads of provincial health departments,” says Deon de Jager, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Boland.
The criminal charges will be laid against Dr Engelbrecht in her capacity as the Head of the Department as AfriForum is of the opinion that she is guilty of a crime in terms of Section 86(1) of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No. 1 of 1999).
