It is alleged that he tried to overtake a truck with his Toyota MR2 convertible sports car, and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Hilux double-cab.
According to Mr Cobus Els, a paramedic with Netcare 911 who was on the scene, he sustained serious internal injuries. He was taken to Rob Ferreira Hospital at around 18:00. However, the occupant of the Hilux refused to go to the hospital as he claimed to have sustained no injuries.
Els says that the patient was very lucky to survive. He adds that his seatbelt and airbags most definitely saved his life. “It could have been a lot different,” he says.
