Limpopo police are investigating the shooting of the 24-year-old man as well as the poaching of a rhino at a private game reserve on Friday.
In the early hours of Friday morning, three rangers were patrolling the area when they were ambushed by an armed seven-member gang.
It’s believed the three men were shot at and bound with cable ties while the poachers killed and de-horned a rhino.
Pelham Jonesof the Private Rhino Owners Association says the refusal to legalise trade in rhino horn is now also putting human lives at risk.
