MOTORING NEWS - Certain classes of vehicles, like police and emergency vehicles, are legally entitled to disregard traffic laws under certain conditions. While doing so, they have to display their warning lights or sound their sirens.
The law also states that they are not permitted to endanger other road users while driving under these conditions. Motorists have certain rights and responsibilities when an official vehicle approaches while driving with lights or sirens.
They are expected to make way for the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so, but they should avoid endangering themselves or other traffic.
