MOTORING NEWS & VIDEO - Looking forward to my first time behind the wheel of the new JAC T6 double cab 4x4 last Friday morning, I donned my best macho man look, and headed to the agent - the Peugeot-Citroën dealership in George.
I haven't previously had the opportunity to test drive a JAC vehicle, and I was really impressed with this affordable Chinese workhorse. The build quality of the JAC T6 double cab 4x4 is on par with all the top vehicle brands. There were no rattles and the finish is of a high quality.
The T6 has the best pricing in its class and offers you the peace of mind of a three-year or 100 000km manufacturer warranty as standard. JAC China has more than 50 years manufacturing experience.
Double cab
The double cab offers a sedan-like driving experience and the seats are very comfortable. The multi-absorption materials used ensure greatly reduced noise in the cabin. The T6 has multi-functional steering that is very responsive, stable and lightweight. The air con was fast-working and effective and did not influence the engine's performance.
The vehicle comes with an Auto lock and remote control, parking sensors, electronic windows, radio, CD, auxiliary and USB. It also has a reverse camera and screen in the centre console.

The independent suspension gives the vehicle a soft ride with great handling. It has a big 319mm diameter disc, which enhances braking performance. It has modern lines and good build quality, which is enhanced by its powerful 1.9 litre turbodiesel engine with a power output of 100kW/320Nm and a 5-speed manual transmission.
The JAC X200 comes standard with air con, radio and a high quality cloth finish. The backrest of its centre seat can fold down to offer a storage area and cup holders. It also has an adjustable steering column.
Safety
The JAC has many safety features including ABS and EBD, which ensures stability under emergency breaking. The car has an impressive C-NCAP 4-star collision quality rating. A big plus is also the dual front airbags.
With its market-friendly pricing, you can easily buy two JAC vehicles for the price of one other popular brand. Also, the dealers assured me there are 45 dealers countrywide and that parts are no problem at all.

Diesel dropside
I also had a look at the X200 1,5 diesel dropside. I did not test-drive this workhorse, but from what I saw, the build quality, interior and exterior were exceptional. It comes with a standard 5-year or 150 000km manufacturing warranty and has a solid output of 80Kw or 240Nm.
Considering its low fuel consumption of 9,2 litres per 100km, it is really tempting to consider this vehicle for your business. It has air conditioning and can seat three people.

In my opinion these vehicles don't have to stand back for any other brand when it comes to quality, driving experience and especially pricing. They are definitely JACs of all trades.

There is a standard 7-inch touchscreen, USB and bluetooth connectivity. In the T6 double cab you just need to flip the easy access switch to select 2x4 or 4x4.
