GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - A warning for strong winds has been issued for several areas.
The warning is valid from Tuesday 29 June at 16:00 until Wednesday 30 June at 08:00.
Strong winds (level 8) are forecast, and could result in structural damage over the Namakwa District (Northern Cape), West Coast, Central Karoo, Cape Winelands, Garden Route and Swellendam, including disruption of ports and harbours offshore between Alexander Bay and Cape Columbine.
The following metros can be affected:
Beaufort West, Bergrivier, Bitou, Breede Valley, Cederberg, Drakenstein, George, Hantam, Hessequa, Kamiesberg, Kannaland, Karoo Hoogland, Knysna, Laingsburg, Langeberg, Matszikama, M Bergrivier, M Cederberg, M Karriesberg, M Matzikama, M Nama Khoi, Mossel Bay, M Richtersveld, Oudtshoorn, Prince Albert, Stellenbosch, Swellendam, Theewaterskloof, Witzenberg.
Be aware of the following:
Sudden cross winds if travelling, especially between buildings, fallen trees or power lines.
Small boats must stay away from the open sea and seek the shelter of a harbour, river estuary or protected bay.
Ensure that all temporary structures are well anchored.
