KANNALAND NEWS - The DA in Kannaland is deeply concerned at the ANC/KIP-coalition municipality’s lack of action to keep communities clean and safe.
According to a press release by Eleanore Bouw-Spies, DA Constituency Head, Kannaland, the coalition portrays not only a lack of competency, but also a blatant disregard for their responsibility to deliver services.
"Illegal dumping in Calitzdorp and Van Wyksdorp is becoming a serious concern. However, Kannaland Municipality is doing nothing to address the matter. In Van Wyksdorp, sanitation infrastructure has deteriorated to such a point that residents use nearby fields to defecate and raw sewage is flowing in the streets, posing serious health risk to residents," she said.
The impact of a clean environment is invaluable in a community as it provides residents with a sense of dignity and pride.
"The DA echoes the community’s frustration and calls on the Kannaland Municipality to urgently take responsibility and keep our communities clean and safe."
