KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service has issued an weather warning for the Western Cape and Namaqua Region of Northern Cape.
The South African Weather Service has issued a weather warning for veld fire conditions from Monday, 7 February at 01:00 until Tuesday, 8 February at 19:00.
The possible affected Karoo districts are: Beaufort West, Cederberg, Hantam, Kannaland, Karoo Hoogland, Laingsburg, Oudtshoorn, Prince Albert and Witzenberg.
The warm temperatures with dry conditions, and strong winds may result in the development of runaway veld fires.
These conditions may result in the fire developing and spreading rapidly, which can result in damage to property and loss of human - and animal lives.
Instructions have been given to fire teams, labour and their equipment to be placed on stand-by. At the first sign of smoke, necessary safety precautions is to take every necessary action to bring the fire under control immediately.
