The Harley belongs to Uwe and Jeanné Eisel of Namibia who spent two nights with Joan's neighbour, Rita Meine, as part of their two week trip from Hermanus to Jeffrey's Bay. Over a glass of sherry Joan mentioned that the last time she had been on a motorcycle was when she was 18. Uwe offered to take her for a ride the next morning. Helmeted and kitted out in full Harley wear they left on a 20 km ride towards Calitzdorp via Volmoed.
"Now that I've done this I think I'm ready for that bungy jump." Joan joked. The ride was a bitter sweet highlight of her years spent in Oudtshoorn as she has sold her house and is moving back to England within the next week. Her neighbour and friend Rita was also offered a ride but at a mature 80 she declined but agreed to pose on the bike with Joan.

After her ride Joan (in front) convinced Rita to sit on the Harley with her. Rita's brother in law, Uwe Eisel, is the owner of the immaculate two wheeler. Photo: Jeanné Eisel.
