GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - In a statement issued by the Garden Route District Municipality, on 16 January, there are currently three wildfires active in the Garden Route.
Three fires are currently active on the Swartberg Pass, Molendrift, Lovain and Vermaaklikheid, and Swartberg Pass (Cape Nature property).
The Swartberg Pass
The wildfire is not under control yet, a burnout (counter-burn) is planned for tomorrow, 17 January. No structures are currently under threat.
Molenrivier, Louvain
The wildfire is still burning in inaccessible terrain and final plans will be discussed tomorrow morning that includes plans for a burnout (counter-burn). No structures are under threat.
Vermaaklikheid
This wildfire, as well as the deliberately set fire, have been extinguished.
