NATIONAL NEWS - Today, Friday 11 May it is Slipper Day and a day on which South Africans can help raise money for Reach For A Dream, one of South Africa's most loved charities.
The organisation makes dreams come true for children suffering from serious, often terminal, illnesses.
Reach For A Dream has a special place in South African hearts because it gives children the gift of fun and adventure, joyful parts of life they are often denied due to their illness.
Through Reach For A Dream, hundreds of South African children have been able to enjoy the simple things many of us take for granted, such as birthday parties. They are also often given the chance to explore the extraordinary, by swimming with dolphins, for instance, or meeting their lifelong heroes.
Today, you can join forces with Wimpy and support Reach For A Dream by wearing your slippers in public and buying a R10 wristband from the restaurant.
Last year R1.4 million was raised from the sales of Slipper Day bracelets in store.
