Blatter’s 40-year Fifa career was ended yesterday, when he and Uefa boss Michel Platini were banned by the governing body’s ethics committee from all football activities for eight years.
The 79-year-old, who’s been at the helm of world football for 17 years was also fined 50,000 Swiss francs for authorising an irregular payment of 2 million Swiss francs to Platini in 2011.
For his involvement, Platini received a fine of 80,000 Swiss francs, to go with his ban.
Blatter says he only stayed on as president at the request of the federation.
“They should have listened to this girl here… and I haven’t done it because at that time Michel Platini has already candidate president".
