Update

GARDEN ROUTE NEWS -  In the latest update from the Garden Route District Municipality at 19:30 on Tuesday 24 January, one (1) wildfire remains active.

Rooiberg Mountain wildfire

The wildfire has three (3) active lines, spreading north, northwest, and south. It is still in an area that is inaccessible by foot.

Infrastructure is further north of both the north and northwestern fire lines.

Several CapeNature ground crews are on scene. GRDM Fire Services in Kannaland remains on alert for any threat to infrastructure.

There are still burn scars in the area and a lot of spekboom. These serve as buffers that prevent the wildfire from spreading rapidly.

All infrastructure is safe at this stage.
