NATIONAL NEWS - The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has identified potential fraud cases relating to some 2 800 accounts from different banks and the post office nationwide.
On Sassa's advice, these institutions have put stop payments on these accounts, resulting in the affected accounts being frozen. They have confirmed that these accounts will not be able to transact.
Beneficiaries who are unable to access their grant money for any reason are advised to:
Visit their nearest police station to make an affidavit.
Take their barcoded or smart card ID together with the completed affidavit to their nearest Sassa office.
Be the lawful ID holder.
Take along proof of banking details.
The agency has assured all beneficiaries that they will get their social grant for July, as officials are ready to assist them.
