OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Oudtshoorn Municipality is pleased to announce that refuse collection will continue tomorrow in the Greater Oudtshoorn with slight changes, due to a two-day refuse collection backlog caused by COVID19 infections in the Cleansing Unit.
According the Community Services Directorate, alternative measures have been put in place to resume collection of refuse removal in Oudtshoorn.
The uncollected garbage of Friday 10 July and Monday 13 July has been prioritised and will be collected on Tuesday, 14 July as from 12:00.
Refuse collection of Tuesday and Wednesday (14 & 15 July) will be collected on Wednesday, 15 July. Refuse collection on Thursday, 16 July and onwards will continue as normal. Should there be any changes in this plan, we will communicate accordingly.
Good news for the Dysselsdorp and De Rust Residents is that refuse collection in these areas will continue as normal.
We urge the community of the Greater Oudtshoorn to continue to work with the Municipality to ease the pressure by avoiding illegally dump household garbage in open spaces. We have noted that illegal dumping has increased drastically for the past few days, and thereby complicating the situation even further. We depend on the cooperation of the citizens to ensure that our beautiful town stays clean.
We would like to thank the citizens of the Greater Oudtshoorn for their patience during this very difficult time.
