OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The yearly Stellenbosch students outreaches to the community of Volmoed and surrounding areas was cancelled this year, but this year the students sponsored an outing for a day camp.
According to pastor Roy Reddy, they made it a leadership camp with learners from the Volmoed Primary school that could be in boarding school next year.
The main speaker was Rev André Fourie from the Volmoed Dutch Reformed Church.
"He addressed the children on fatherhood and also prayed with them. The other speaker was Priscilla Wicomb from Cape Town. She is a school teacher from the Cape flats. She spoke to the children about their self-worth."
The day was held at Highgate Ostrich Showfarm.
"The children were also blessed with a tour of the farm, and the owner also allowed us to use the lapa area for our programmes.
It is important to do these outreaches with our children for they are our future leaders.
These outreaches could help to motivate them to become better grownups and keep them off the streets."
